From your Justworks census dated October 20, 2026. Please correct anything that looks off.
Where your people work
11 people on payroll, each state set up separately for taxes
Who's on benefits
From your November coverage on the October 5 invoice
Why this matters: PEOs look closely at how many people are on the medical plan. People covered on a spouse's plan usually don't count against you, so knowing who turned coverage down and why helps us quote.

Your October 5 Justworks invoice
Fees and insurance only. Wages and payroll taxes are billed separately with each payroll.

Your state unemployment tax rates
What Justworks charged on your October 16 payroll, next to the standard 2026 rate for a new employer in each state. Sorted by yearly difference.
At Justworks' rates
$7,982A year for your current 11 people
At new-employer rates
$5,030A year for the same people
Possible difference
$1,000 to $2,950A year, depending on Colorado See note
About Colorado: it's about two-thirds of the difference. If 5.16% is your own Colorado rate, based on your history, it stays with you at any PEO and the difference is closer to $1,000 a year. Your yearly Colorado rate notice will tell us. How it's figured: each state taxes pay only up to a yearly limit, so this uses your current people and pay rates for a full year. Every new hire starts a new limit, so turnover adds to both columns. Indiana is estimated from year-to-date payroll.

What your Justworks agreement says
From the Customer Service Agreement you signed on April 15, 2026.
30 days' notice, no annual contract
FlexibleYou can leave anytime with 30 days' written notice. Less notice means paying 30 days of admin fees anyway.
SECTION 9.1Fees can change with 30 days' notice
Watch for 2027Justworks can change fees with 30 days' notice, and workers' comp at any time. Justworks has announced $124 per person for PEO Plus starting January 1, 2027.
SECTION 4.2New coverage must start the day you leave
Plan aheadHealth and workers' comp have to be in place on day one. If not, Justworks charges $400 a month for each person on COBRA.
SECTION 4.25Invoiced taxes and insurance can be more than Justworks' cost
Good to knowThe agreement says amounts billed as taxes, premiums or contributions may be higher than what Justworks actually pays, and Justworks keeps the difference. That's why we compare total cost, not just the admin fee.

Why January 1 works well
- Payroll tax limits reset that day anyway, so nothing gets paid twice.
- Justworks' new pricing starts that day.
- Only two months into your medical plan year, which started November 1.
